Everyday
Street photography enables the photographer to take candid images of everyday life. In time these images morph into a historical document. It could be argued that this genre is one of the hardest to execute. It’s about visualizing or interpreting a scene, by anticipating an image or capturing an image instantly as its materialises.
Also you can walk the streets for hours, days and be so immersed in the physical surrounds and not capture an image or on the flip side going around a street corner and there is an instant image to capture.
The key is not to be seen as photographer, being invisible especially when you’re an arm’s length away from the subject. Street photography is also a solitary genre and can have a personal toll on the photographer, as there’s no conversation even though you are surround by people.
These images have been taken over a two-year period with the intention interpreting the character of Sydney’s central business district.
